Monday and Tuesday (6th & 7th) were a day off. Sandy and decided to play tourist and headed into Longreach to pick up my new Akubra hat and to go to the Qantas Founders Museum. We had lunch at the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame before heading back to Tanamera. Tuesday we headed back into Longreach for breakfast and to see if we could get the winch fixed after our Ute rescue escapade. An hour and a half later and $40 lighter we were fixed. We headed back to Tanamera to complete the laudry and put our feet up.
After a few hot, dry days it meant that for the rest of the week we were able to our bore runs and gardening. We found the pump submerged at Barnam dam which Sandy managed to clean and get working.
Friday though we had the ‘piece de la resistance’, we needed to fix the cattle grid on the Silsoe road between Nos 7 paddock and Top Shed as the Grader had filled it in when grading the road, and the cattle were now happily moving from one paddock to the next. He explained that it was a job that would take us 2 to 3 days. Sandy and I offered to start to job that day after smoko, which we did. However the 2 to 3 day job became a 1 day job, when Wally joined us that avo to lend a hand and ‘get the job done’, he wanted the grid to be ‘stock proof’ that night! Sandy and I returned to the homestead buggered, through tracks which were now running rivers (don’t mention bogged utes, goat and cattle trucks) after a 140 point rain storm half an hour earlier. Did we get home; the answer is yes, but only by the skin of our teeth!
Saturday and Sunday were days of rest, I wonder what next week will bring?!
