Final weeks in Cairns then its back on the road for the next adventure

Well, after a few Skype conversations and text messages with Scott, the property owner on the Gold Coast, we have decided to go with that option, starting towards the end of March. The deal is that in exchange for 12 hours gardening work a week we get free, parking for the caravan, electricity and water. The basic work is lawn mowing, brush cutting, blowing and weeding. On top of that he has several projects in mind which we could undertake as required at an agreed rate/price. He seems keen on embracing a sustainability philosophy around the property and already has a group of permaculturists established, creating and operating some vegetable beds. The biggest problem I foresee will be trying to keep Sheila reined in and not giving too much “free” labour away as her passion for all things gardening takes over.

With the decision of where to head made, all that remained to be finalise was the timescale. Sheila envisaged having all she could accomplish assisting Lidija at this stage would be completed by Friday 18th March, so we agreed with Scott to head out of Cairns on Sunday 20th with the aim of arriving at Tallebudgera towards the middle of the week, weather and roads permitting. So, the die was cast!!

The days and nights leading up to our departure were again very sociable as we once again said our farewells to all our friends in Cairns. We had some really great times, including a memorable trip out to Green Island with Susan and Tony Moir.
