Monday 9th May was spent catching up with the domestics chores and planning and booking our trip back to Brisbane’s Northside to have the caravan serviced by the guys at the Kedron factory in Brendale. Although the caravan wasn’t due into them until Thursday Morning, we had arranged to drop it off on the Wednesday afternoon thereby avoiding a crack of sparrows start and a drag though Brisbane’s early morning rush hour.
With that in mind, we headed out of St. George on Tuesday morning for an overnight stop at Dalby before making our way to Brendale via Yarraman, Kilcoy and Caboolture before pulling into the Kedron factory around 1330. After dropping the van off, we headed into Aspley, to the Big4 park that we’d stayed in previously and where we’d booked a cabin for a couple of nights. That evening, Sheila had a message on her phone to contact the DON at St. George hospital regarding starting work. With things looking favourable on the work front for Sheila we headed out for a feed and a couple of beers before having an early night.
On Thursday morning, Sheila contacted St. George and arranged to meet with the DON and NUM on Monday morning when back in St. George. We then set off to Chermside Shopping Mall to pick up a few bits and bobs (clothes and books) and take in a movie (Source Code).
We were up and out of the tourist park bright and early on Friday morning to collect the caravan. The Kedron guys were as good as their word and our van was ready and waiting for us when we arrived just after 0800, having had the service and the few minor problems attended to. We were soon hitched up and back on the road. It had all gone so smoothly, that we had cleared Brisbane by 0850 and back in Yarraman by coffee break. We decided over coffee, that rather than do an intermediate night stop, we would just press on to St. George. A quick call to Steve and Lorraine confirmed that our site would be available that night, so off we went; only stopping at Moonie Roadhouse for a pee and fuel for car and travellers. We arrived back at Pelican Rest around 1630 having covered 570km. We were soon established back on site after which we headed to the Cobb & Co. Hotel for a beer and some food, then back to the comfort of our own bed. Despite its reputation, Friday 13th had turned out to be a good day for the Marshalls.
Saturday and Sunday were days for domestics, re-stocking larders, clothes washing, etc.
