Putting Down Roots.......Again

Well the Marshall have been busy again, not with travelling as we plan to stay in St George for the winter but with planning our future. Let me explain......

Sandy and I have settled in well to our new jobs. My part time at job St George Hospital has proved challenging (getting back to general nursing) though enjoyable with the great support that I receive from all the staff, and Sandy has found a kindred spirit in Graham (boss man at Betta Electrical) who is ex-navy, so lots of military banter. So work life if very good.

St George we are enjoying, it has a great community spirit and the people are very friendly and welcoming, which has made us feel very settled, and whilst St George is a fair way from any main towns or cities, there is plenty going on in the town and surrounding village communities. This got Sandy and I thinking, which as you know can be very worrying. We decided that we wanted a permanent base, and that St George hit all the marks for us, it is a town which has good services for its size and is on the doorstep of the Great Outback. We can travel east to Brisbane in a day or west on the next adventure. With this in mind we put an offer on a 61/2 acre block of land (next to the block with the house and shed on it) just outside of town. We are waiting to complete on the 8th August 2011.

Of course this has my mind now busy with gardening ventures (veggie patches, orchards, wicking beds, aquaponics), so watch this space. Sandy and I are also busy with finding builders and looking at plans for our new home.

So as soon as we have some news, plans etc, we will let you know.
